Bonifacio bags 2010 intramural championship
Builder's Desk on 09/19/2011 at 9:33am (UTC)
Academics and extra-curricular activities are important aspects of education for the holistic development of the young, and the intramural is one most awaited event in the whole school year.

Waiting for long the moment to come is not a waste to the Bonifacio Team (Unit 2) after winning by landslide points to become the 2010 Intramural Overall Champion. Its rivals, Lapu-lapu (Unit 1) and Rizal (Unit 3), placed second and third respectively. With the theme “Stay Healthy, Think Sports,” the intramural was held on October 26 – 29, 2010.

“We commend all Unit Leaders for their effort and ability to manage their teams to victory in different events,” said Mrs. Ezel B. Piclet, Team Bonifacio adviser. “After the preparations and practices which we administered and supervised as advisers, we gave more independence and a chance to the leaders to develop by working more independently during the games and events,” she added.

Starting from Day 1, the theme effort and cooperation of Team Bonifacio kept them on lead against Teams Lapu-lapu and Rizal. They have dominated their rivals in almost all events especially in Indoor and Outdoor games and in the Literary-Musical Competitions. Championships in group games provided the team more point advantage. First, second and third places in group games are given 25, 18, and 14 points, respectively. 15, 10, and 7 points also for dual events.

Especial part of the event is the parlor games which were dominated by the Team Lapu-lapu by winning mostly first and second places. All parlor games are given a point value equal to individual sports which is 10, 7, and 5 points for first, second, and third places, respectively.

One important change in this year’s intramural is the reshuffling of members and leaders. “For the past five to six years, there should have been many changes in the compositions of the teams,” said Mr. Winfred Felimon. “There must be a reevaluation of the abilities of team members and should be redistributed so that all teams will have an equal chance to play a good game. Leaders, indoor games geniuses, and players must be distributed to all teams,” he said.

The season of intramurals every last week of October serves as the semestral break for SAHS students.

Education is the key to success!

Some students, however, have financial difficulties to meet the needs of schooling which prompts the Saint Peter’s Savings and Credit Cooperative, Inc. (SPSCC) to extend help by providing assistance to deserving students in the municipality of Sabangan. Of twenty grantees in the municipality, five are SAHS students. One of which is a personal grantee of one SPSCC employee.

“Each beneficiary receives an amount of Php 1,500.00 a year,” said Mrs. Diane Acosta. “This is not actually an scholarship, but it is a help for those deserving who are expected to graduate.”

Two beneficiaries of the grant have already graduated from high school. According to SPSCC staffs, the cooperative is expecting that the grantees will value their help and show their valuing by doing well in their studies.
